Yuvraj Singh is one of the few players who saw the rise and remarkable progress as captain of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

And so he definitely knows a thing or two about how the two operate as captain. One of the hottest debate in Indian cricket right now is who is a better captain, MS Dhoni or Virat Kohli? The whole cricketing fraternity is busy discussing the much-debated topic and Yuvraj also gave his views on it.

The 36-year old said aggressive Kohli is different from calm and composed Dhoni. Yuvraj went on to opine that Dhoni had got a settled team while Kohli has transformed the current side. Yuvraj spent a major part of his career under Dhoni’s captaincy. Under Dhoni, Yuvraj won the World T20 in 2007 and the 50-over World Cup in 2011. On the other hand, he only played a few matches under Kohli’s captaincy after being recalled last year.

“Obviously, he’s very different from MSD, who is calm and composed. Virat is a bit aggressive. The results have shown that he is doing very well as captain. It’s a different generation too. MSD had very experienced players, match-winners. It was a very set team when he got the captaincy. The team has transformed under Virat,” Yuvraj told Sportstarlive.

The veteran batsman further praised Kohli for emphasising on fitness. He also said the current skipper is taking the team in the right direction for the next World Cup.

“Being so fit himself, he emphasises on fitness. The players now are much fitter than the previous generation because the game too has become more demanding. Virat is taking the team in the right direction with his fitness and diet discipline, keeping in mind the 2019 World Cup,” he noted.

Dhoni vs Kohli:

Dhoni is the most decorated skipper in the history of Indian cricket. In addition to leading the nation to two World Cup titles, he also led the country to number one in Tests for the first time. But while Kohli definitely has a long way to go before he gets even close to Dhoni’s record, the 29-year has done an incredible job so far.

He had already led India to number one in Tests, and ODIs. He led the team to nine Test series wins in a row and is yet to lose a series as an ODI skipper. He had also taken the team to the final of last year’s Champions Trophy and is now one match away from leading the nation to its first-ever bilateral series win in South Africa.

India is currently leading the Proteas 3-1 in the ongoing six-match ODI series.
