Since making debut in the national team, MS Dhoni has become an irreplaceable character in the Indian team. The wicket-keeper batsman has contributed to the Indian team in the best possible way. Be it with his wicket-keeping or batting, Dhoni’s efficiency has helped Team India grow.

Further, Dhoni has led the Indian team in three ICC trophies- 2007 ICC T20 World Cup, 2011 ICC World Cup, and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Also, he has transformed Indian cricket since taking on the captaincy.

However, many raised speculations over his ability to finish the game, but he has answered his critics time and again.

Meanwhile, he also found many former cricketers by his side who backed Dhoni’s ability till the 2019 World Cup.

However, most recently a vintage Dhoni was on offer when he paired with Manish Pandey to rescue India in the second T20I against South Africa. As far as Dhoni’s contribution is concerned, he has helped Virat Kohli in leading the side time and again with valuable inputs.

Further, let’s take a look at the reason why no one can fill MS Dhoni’s shoes in Team India:

Presence of mind:

Doni’s presence of mind and reacting according to situations is unparallel to anybody in modern day cricket. Further, his brilliant game reading skills and field placement sets him apart from the rest.

Time and again, Dhoni has done unorthodox things, which in return has brought results. Further, he brought new techniques to wicket-keeping to bring in efficiency to the game. The cricketing world witnessed it for the first time when Dhoni kept with gloves, on the one hand, to stop batsmen taking runs in the death overs.

Meanwhile, Dhoni has mastered the review system. He has helped Kohli immensely in successfully leading the Indian team in the recent years.

His finishing abilities:

Over the years Dhoni emerged as the greatest finisher in the world cricket. His strength to clear any grounds makes him the best in that position. However, many have raised reservation over credibility as a finisher.

Although Dhoni’s strike rate has gone down, he averaged more than 60 in the limited-overs cricket in 2017. He brings a sense of calm in the middle-order who can rotate the strike and can score quick runs.

Further, Dhoni is the only Indian player who can convert singles into doubles and doubles into triples while batting. It is this ability of his, which has won India matches even when the opposition bowlers are wreaking havoc.

At a time when the World Cup is looming ahead, Dhoni is the perfect man for the No. 5 spot in the Kohli led Indian side.

No one ready to fill his shoes:

Although many names have popped up as a backup to Dhoni, nobody has shown enough consistency. Young wicket-keeper batsmen like Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant is knocking the door but is yet show consistency. Meanwhile, it will be very tough to fill in the heavyweight shoes of Dhoni.

Dhoni has his unique qualities be it scoring runs or with the gloves on. Moreover, he is unorthodox yet admired by all the cricketing fans

In every discipline, a player comes and goes. However, there are only few who creates a longlasting impact. MS Dhoni is one such rare sportsperson, who footsteps will be hard to fill in.
