India’s wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha enters into the record books after affecting 10 dismissals in the first Test of Freedom Series at Newlands, Cape Town.

Indian bowlers were on fire in the morning session of day four as the South Africa batsmen found it tough to handle the magic by Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah as they bowl out South Africa at 130 in the second dig.

Bumrah, who made his debut in this match removed South African skipper Faf du Plessis by a whisker of a delivery. Shami, who was a bit outward to start off in this Test came back stronger to give India a breakthrough at the start.

Saha, who is currently India’s best wicket-keeper was once again brilliant behind the stumps as affected 10 dismissals in the Test match. It is the highest number of dismissals affected by an Indian wicket-keeper in any Test match.

Previously, the record was kept by Nayan Mongia, who affected eight dismissals in Durban during 1996-97 tour. Mongia also affected the same number of catch at Eden Garden against Pakistan in 1999.

Saha is also at joint third alongside Nayan Mongia with two six or more catches in Test Cricket with MS Dhoni and Syed Kirmani with 10 and three times respectively.

India is now in an advantageous position with only 208 runs required to win after an outstanding bowling display by the Indian bowlers.
