"None of the BCCI officials were involved in contractual decision making"-Amitabh Choudhary

The Supreme Court appointed, Committee of Administrators on Wednesday announced the central contracts for the Indian players. The COA announced huge hikes for both men and women players in comparison to last year.

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni and senior off-spinner R Ashwin missed out from the top grade category. The BCCI also introduced a new A+ category in the central contracts for only five players.

The A+ category included skipper Virat Kohli along with openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan.

Also, the fast bowling duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah were included in the contract.

Moreover, the A category includes Dhoni and Ashwin along with Ravindra Jadeja, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Wridhhiman Saha. These seven players will get Rs 5 crores.

The B category included KL Rahul, Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Hardik Pandya, Ishant Sharma and Dinesh Karthik. These players will get Rs 3 crores.

The C category included Kedar Jadhav, Manish Pandey, Axar Patel, Karun Nair, Suresh Raina, Parthiv Patel and Jayant Yadav. These players will get Rs 1 crores.

However, BCCI secretary Amitabh Choudhary has cleared that he was not involved in any decision regarding the contracts of the players.

He also added that none of the BCCI officials were involved in the decision making. It was the CoA who made the final decision.

He said: 

“I can also say that none of the BCCI office bearers or members have been involved in this process of determining the Compensation. Moreover, I being the convenor of the Selection Committee, no meeting has taken place to discuss the particular matter.”
