New York Strikers Appoint Yuvraj Singh As Mentor For Upcoming Edition Of Abu Dhabi T10

The newly formed New York Strikers have named legendary India National Cricket Team all-rounder Yuvraj Singh as their mentor for the upcoming season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League, which is set to begin in November.

Yuvraj, who was adjusted Player of the tournament in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2011, officially retired from international cricket in June 2019. After taking retirement from international cricket he competed in several global franchise competitions. He also played in the Abu Dhabi T10 League in 2019 for the Maratha Arabians. Notably, the Maratha Arabians won the tournament in 2019 by defeating Deccan Gladiators in the final.

Meanwhile, the newly formed New York Strikers franchise in the Abu Dhabi T10 was acquired by USA-based Skky Strikers. The inclusion of the New York Strikers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League makes it an 8-team tournament, with two teams joining the bandwagon from the USA.

Shaji-ul-Mulk, chairman of the T10 Sports Management, was delighted to see the addition of the two new teams to the Abu Dhabi T10 League. He said:

“I am delighted to welcome on board the New York Strikers team from the USA to our Abu Dhabi T10 family. Our aim was to establish the Abu Dhabi T10 as one of the standout events on the international cricket calendar and grow our global broadcast viewership numbers which currently stand at 342 million.

“With the addition of the two new teams from America, we continue building on the success of the tournament as cricket’s quickest format evolves at a rapid rate. We look forward to closely working with Sagar Khanna and his team as we get into our 6th season starting 23 November.”

The New York Strikers franchise is owned by Sagar Khanna, who is a passionate fan of the game of cricket.

“It is an extremely exciting time for our franchise as the Abu Dhabi T10 is unique and highly competitive, bringing together elite players from across the globe. It gives us the perfect opportunity to compete against the elites of cricket and test ourselves out.” Sagar said.

The franchise has roped in Kieron Pollard as an Icon player and Eoin Morgan as a Platinum player. Also, Azam Khan and Paul Stirling have joined the side as Category A players. Speaking on the signings, Sagar said:

“Kieron Pollard and Eoin Morgan are among the biggest names in white-ball cricket. Both are extremely dangerous players and we have no doubt that their leadership qualities will be extremely essential for our camp going forward. Both Pollard and Morgan strike fear in the opposition team’s minds, and we like that thought.”
