However, he stated that Men in Green are not the clear favourites. But have a slight edge with a lot of positives in the team. He recollects that India is the favourites during the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 as well.

”For the first time, I don’t think India are clear favourites. Pakistan has a better form behind them. I am not sure if Pakistan are clear favourites here, but they might have a slight edge. Their playing elevens are working a lot better than India at the moment, and that sometimes helps, plus India are playing back-to-back games which is not going to help in this heat either,” Agarkar told ESPNcricinfo on Wednesday.

“There is a case of Pakistan being a lot closer to India this time. In the Champions Trophy, India were clear favourites to win that,” said Agarkar.

Bumrah and Hardik will make India stronger – Ajit Agarkar

The flamboyant Mumbaikar furtherly added that the addition of Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah will make the things look good for Rohit Sharma and his men. He feels that the only problem for India is the tiredness.

”Bumrah and Hardik Pandya will come back and make the eleven a lot stronger than it looked in that first game against Hong Kong. India didn’t play particularly well against Hong Kong or the opposition batted really well. The only problem is that India will be a lot more tired after their first game playing in that heat,” he inferred.

However, as Ajit Agarkar said, Pakistan will have the slight edge over India during the Asia Cup 2018. But, the addition of the rested players to the playing XI will better India’s chances as well.
