India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup 2018. Pandya had suffered an acute back injury while bowling against Pakistan in the fifth match of the tournament. In fact, the injury looked quite serious as Pandya was not able to move after falling to the ground in his follow through. Furthermore, he was taken off the field with the help of a stretcher. Thus, it didn’t look good for Pandya.

Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar has been called as a cover for the all-rounder. Chahar has recently done well for the India A side and makes the cut into the squad for the Asia Cup 2018.

Pandya suffered a serious blow.

On the other hand, there is no news regarding the magnitude of Pandya’s injury. He looked in severe pain after falling to the ground and thus he could be out of action for a while.

In fact, Pandya was rested for the first One-Dayer against Hong Kong. He had played continuously on England tour. However, he was dropped from the fifth and final Test match against England at the Oval.

Thus, Pandya’s ouster is a big blow to the Indian side as he adds balance in the ODI form being an all-rounder. Pandya can chip with some crucial overs and has good power-hitting capabilities while batting lower down the order. However, India will miss the services of their linchpin all-rounder.

Meanwhile, India didn’t miss the services of Pandya in the clash against Pakistan. Kedar Jadhav was able to pick three wickets. Furthermore, Pandya’s services with the bat were also not required as India went on to win by eight wickets. Therefore, it was a dominating display from the Men in Blue as they ticked the right boxes against their arch-rivals Pakistan.
