Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen believes Pakistan should have chased the target against India. Sarfraz Ahmed had won the toss and decided to bat first. However, India’s strength has always been chasing the target in ODI format. India was able to get rid of Pakistan for a meek total of 162 runs, which was always going to be a cakewalk for the potent Indian batting.

Furthermore, Kevin Pietersen believes Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed should bat at number six position. The Pakistan gloveman had batted at number five in the match against India.

Sarfraz should bat at number six.

However, the right-hander could only score six runs. In fact, Ahmed innings was ended by a fine catch by Manish Pandey who was a substitute fielder for injured Hardik Pandya.

Pandey took a fine running catch and released the ball as his momentum was taking him over the ropes. Manish then came back and completed a majestic catch.

Meanwhile, Kevin Pietersen said Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rohit Sharma put together a great show with ball and bat respectively. Bhuvneshwar Kumar jolted the Pakistan innings when he got two early wickets of the openers.

Both the southpaw openers were back in the hunt after just three runs were put on the board. India’s pack leader had looked rusty against Hong Kong, however, he was able to bring out his best against Pakistan.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was also adjudged the Player of the match for scalping three wickets and gave away only 15 runs. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma also led with the bat as he scored his 35th ODI fifty.

Kevin Pietersen took to Twitter to share his thoughts. His post read, “Pakistan should have chased last night. Sarfaraz needs to bat 6. India clinical. Rohit/Bhuvi put on a show”.
