Pakistan’s veteran batsman Shoaib Malik displayed great sportsmanship after the conclusion of the Super Four match against Afghanistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2018. Malik made most of his experience to take Pakistan over the line. In fact, the match went down to the wire as Afghanistan gave a run for the money to the Men in Green. 29 runs were required from the last three overs and the onus was on Malik to steer Pakistan to the win.

Subsequently, the right-hander was able to ooze the steel of nerves. 10 runs were needed from the last over and Malik had the strike. He could not get away the first ball, however, he was able to get a maximum on the next ball. Afghanistan bowler Aftab Alam was under pressure and lacked experience as he bowled a half tracker.

Malik oozes great spirit of the game.

Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik showed why cricket is the gentlemen’s game as he went on hug Aftab Alam after the match. Alam was devastated after conceding the runs and the emotions of the defeat were seen on his face. Thus, Malik showed why he is one of the nicest cricketers around.

Consequently, Shoaib Malik took the Player of the match award for guiding Pakistan to an emphatic win. In fact, Malik also contributed with the ball as he bowled four overs.

It was disheartening for Aftab Alam.

Therefore, Pakistan was able to get their win as they won by the skin of their teeth. Thus, it was the closest match of the ongoing tournament. Meanwhile, Imam-ul Haq scored 80 whereas Babar Azam amassed 66 to get Pakistan close to the target.

However, Pakistan was not up to the mark with their fielding as they dropped as many as four chances in Afghanistan’s batting innings.
