Asia Cup is heating up with top-2 teams from each group making the cut to the Super-4. India and Pakistan are the most sought-after games in the cricket arena and their political tension and absence of bilateral ties spices up their every meeting in the multi-nation tournaments.

India won the opening encounter against Pakistan in a thrilling fashion and went on to win against Hong Kong convincingly. Pakistan after their loss against India gave a drubbing to Hong Kong to win the must-win encounter.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul are yet to make a big contribution in this series. Virat Kohli has been good with scores of 35 & 59 in the 2 matches played so far. The middle order duo of Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya were the standout players in the 2 matches played so far.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Deepak Hooda might play in the starting XI in place of injured spin all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and too-expensive pacer Avesh Khan respectively. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been excellent with the new ball and death overs and has claimed 5 wickets so far.

Hardik Pandya will be a vital cog in India’s bowling unit. Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh went for a lot of runs in the last game with the former struggling big time. Yuzvendra Chahal will be partnered with Ravichandran Ashwin in the spin department with Deepak Hooda’s part-time off-spinners providing the depth.

Mohammed Rizwan (78 runs) and Fakhar Zaman (53 runs) stitched together a brilliant 116-run partnership for the second wicket after the early loss of Babar Azam in their previous match against Hong Kong. Khusdil Shah gave the perfect finish with his 15-ball burst of 35 runs. Iftikhar Ahmed, Asif Ali, and Shadab khan add depth and balance to their playing XI.

Pacers Naseem Shah and Shahnawaz Dahani gave them a perfect start dismissing the opposition’s top-3 cheaply inside the powerplay. The spin duo of Mohammed Nawaz and Shadab Khan then ran through the Hong Kong line-up with combined figures of 4.4-0-13-7 in the match and bowled out the opposition for just 38 runs.

Pakistan made it to the Super 4s with a 155-run win over Hong Kong, who were bowled out for 38, the lowest total against a Full Member in T20Is. Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan read the conditions well and steered Pakistan towards a safe total. They then scored 129 in the last 10 overs and 77 in the last five to get to a well-above-par total, with some help from a Khushdil Shah assault.

It was a procession after Naseem Shah struck twice in the third over of the innings. Then it was the turn of the spinners, Shadab Khan (four for eight) and Mohammad Nawaz (three for five), to do the damage as they shared seven wickets.

Pakistan 193 for 2 (Rizwan 78*, Fakhar 53*, Khushdil 35*, Ehsan 2-28) beat Hong Kong 38 (Shadab 4-8, Nawaz 3-5) by 155 runs
