India take on Sri Lanka in match 3 of the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai on September 6. The Lankans defeated Afghanistan in their first Super 4 game while India lost to Pakistan in their first Super 4 game. The Men in Blue now face a must-win situation in the last two games if they want to make the final of the tournament. Pakistan defeated India by five wickets and with one ball remaining on Sunday to avenge their defeat in the group game earlier in the tournament.
Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the Asia Cup with a knee injury. He will be undergoing a surgery and will most probably miss the T20 World Cup too. Axar Patel has been added as his replacement. The team will miss his presence and his form with bat and ball against Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, ahead of the game against Pakistan, Rahul Dravid stressed on playing with the strongest XI in the remaining Asia Cup games in the build-up to the World Cup.
“There’s not going to be any workload management over the next three or four days, unless of course it’s forced upon us like, for example Jadeja. Other than that, no we’re looking at every single game to win it, try and win this tournament and do the best that we can. We’ll have time after that to manage the workloads. From now on leading into the World Cup, we really want to be playing our best squad as and when possible.” Dravid said.
Meanwhile, in this article, we will take a look at India’s predicted playing XI against Sri Lanka. It will be interesting to see who replaces Jadeja in the XI.
