Ravindra Jadeja has sustained a right knee injury and is ruled out of the tournament. He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI medical team,” on Friday, September 2, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in an official media release.

Meanwhile, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid ahead of the game against Pakistan spoke about playing a full-strength squad for the rest of the Asia Cup games. His words were a response to the topic of workload and the management of Indian players. The likes of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli all came into the Asia Cup after an ample amount of rest but have not performed as expected.

“There’s not going to be any workload management over the next three or four days, unless of course it’s forced upon us like, for example Jadeja. Other than that, no we’re looking at every single game to win it, try and win this tournament and do the best that we can. We’ll have time after that to manage the workloads. From now on leading into the World Cup, we really want to be playing our best squad as and when possible.” Dravid said.

Meanwhile, after beating Afghanistan, the Lankans are sky-high on confidence. They have kept their nerves to ace to back to back run chases. While skipper Dasun Shaka was the hero against Bangladesh, several players came together to help their side win against Afghanistan. The Lankans in the process avenged their defeat against the side that came in the very first game of this campaign.

“It’s the belief of the dressing room. As a team we believe we can chase anything on these kind of wickets. When chasing, we have a clear idea of how the wicket behaves. Boys executed the plan very well – Fernando, Hasaranga, Theekshana. Very pleased to see how Mendis and Pathum got started. And the others followed” said Shanaka.
