Pakistan face Afghanistan in match 4 of the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2022 on September 7, Wednesday. They defeated India by 8 wickets to get their Super 4 started with a win. Another win against Afghanistan would almost seal their spot in the finals.
Afghanistan meanwhile is heading into this game after losing their first Super 4 game against Sri Lanka. A loss against Pakistan would all but end their Asia Cup campaign.
Pakistan defeated India by five wickets and with a ball to spare. Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Nawaz were the architects of this Pakistan win courtesy of their 73-run stand for the third wicket. Skipper Babar Azam also hailed the partnership and termed it the turning point of the game.
“Our effort is to keep it simple. Ups and downs will keep happening. They got the edge the way they utilised the powerplay. But our bowlers made a comeback. Rizwan and Nawaz’s partnership was the turning point” said Babar.
Speaking about their playing XI against Afghanistan, the side would ideally go with the same playing XI. Shahnawaz Dahani who missed the game against India due to a side strain should return to the XI if he is fit. The rest of the sides should remain the same.
