Shreyas Iyer seemed to have solved India’s No.4 problem in the ODIs but unfortunately faced an injury. He would be hoping to replicate all that he did pre his injury and would be eager to claim his spot back in the team.
Asia Cup 2023: Rahmanullah Gurbaz Backs Shreyas To Be India’s Captain after Rohit Sharma
Afghanistan batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz recently talked about the Indian captaincy. He feels that Shreyas Iyer will be a good captain. He pointed out that if he can lead a team in a tough competition like IPL he can even captain India and he’s confident that he’ll do a good job.
Speaking to the Times of India, he explained: “Hopefully, he (Shreyas) will become a good captain. He will be a good captain because he leads a team (KK) in the IPL. The IPL is the biggest competition in the world. If he can lead a team in the IPL, he can lead any team in the world. India also. Rohit is there right now.
“India’s cricket quality is of a high level. If Shreyas lets a team in the IPL, that means he is good (as India captaincy material). There are a lot of players who didn’t get a chance to lead teams in the IPL. I am sure he will be a good captain for India.”
Shreyas Iyer will be next seen in action when India will open their campaign against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023 on 2nd September.
