Bangladesh Cricket Team suffered a major blow on the eve of the Asia Cup 2023. Star batter Litton Das has been ruled out of their first game against Sri Lanka due to a fever as per the reports in the BDCricTime.
Litton Das didn’t travel with the team to Sri Lanka on 27th August due to a fever. He was then scheduled to join the team on 28th August but it wasn’t possible too as he had high grade fever on that day. There were even talks related to his replacement in the team but the team management didn’t want to take any backup cricketer.
Litton Das will now be joining the team ahead of their second game against Afghanistan, slated to take place on Sunday (3rd September). The keeper-batter will be directly flying to Pakistan and will join the team ahead of that game. Bangladesh have a hectic schedule in the tournament due to the hybrid model.
After the first match in Sri Lanka and the second in Pakistan, if they qualify for the Super 4 stage, things will get tougher for them. They will play their first Super Four game in Pakistan and then will have to move back to Sri Lanka to play the remaining two Super Four matches.
The absence of Litton Das might prove to be costly for Bangladesh, considering that Tamim Iqbal is already being ruled out of the tournament. The keeper-batter is amongst the star players of his team and he will be vital for the team going into the Asia Cup 2023.
