Australian Cricket Team thrashed India in the 3rd ODI & won the match by 21 runs. Australia showed great fighting spirit as the Men in Blue were in a state of ascendancy where the required run rate wasn’t out of reach. Skipper Steve Smith’s tactics were quite commendable where he didn’t allow the batters to rotate the strike on a consistent basis.
India’s batters should have shown some resistance as there was ample time left in the match. Virat Kohli & Hardik Pandya’s shot selection was quite questionable which hurt the team. This defeat now raises questions over India’s dynamics as the hosts had a long batting lineup where 270 is not a big score in modern cricket.

Wake Cup Call for India
Head Coach Rahul Dravid needs to have some serious talks with batters where it won’t be wrong to say that it was India’s shot selection that cost the match as well as the series. Rahul Dravid had mentioned that they have shortlisted 17-18 players for ODI WC 2023 where now where it would be interesting to see whether Suryakumar Yadav gets another go. Perhaps, the management must look beyond Suryakumar Yadav in the ODI format where getting out on the 1st ball throughout the ODI Series doesn’t sound good.
The absence of Shreyas Iyer (*injured) hurt India a lot as Shreyas is someone who can provide stability to the team in the middle overs. Skipper Rohit Sharma would rue the fact that he couldn’t capitalize on his start as he played a rash shot & got out on 30 runs in 17 balls where he struck 2 fours & 2 sixes and was looking ominous.
