There have been a lot of talks surrounding the much-awaited Border Gavaskar Trophy as Australia will try to win their first series in India after their last win coming in 2003-04. The side looks strong at the moment with momentum behind their back but it is not an easy feat for any side to defeat India in their home conditions.

However, it is the first time in a while that it looks like we are in for a competitive series between the two sides. While it is true that Australia are a strong side that could cause an upset, it would be out of the box to say that India are not the favorites to win the series.

A lot of experts have voiced their opinion on the upcoming series and have predicted the possible outcome. Australian critics have favored their chances this time around and are expecting their side to bag a win or two, former Indian cricketer Dodda Ganesh believes the idea to be farfetched and thinks it would be a surprise if Australia even manages to win a single game.

I Understand The Optimism, But Australia Winning Is Outlandish: Dodda Ganesh

Commenting on the statements made by former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene, who predicted Australia to win the series 2-1, Ganesh replied that it was just outlandish for people to expect Australia to defeat India at home.

“I understand optimism, but to say Australia will win the series in India is a bit outlandish. The Oz have no chance against the quality of India’s spin trio. They’ll not win a test. India winning 3-0 or 4-0 is the only thing that needs to be decided,”

His statement does not come as a surprise to many, as Australia without a doubt are coming into the series as the underdogs. However, we have seen India defeat Australia at home in the past, so it would not be too surprising if the visitors manage to bag the same feat after a wait of 20 years.
