Australian Cricket Team would be keen to end the drought of 19 years as they haven’t won Test Series in India since 2004. The problem with the visitors is that they don’t perform on a consistent basis which ruins all of their hard work. The 1st Test match at Nagpur on 9th February would be quite critical for Aussies.

The finalists of the World Test Championship (WTC 2019-21) have found themselves in a tricky position. India has to win the Test Series by 3-0 or 3-1 to find a place in the WTC 2021-23 which is quite a tough task. The Aussies are on a roll at the moment as they have been invincible in the WTC 2021-23 cycle.

Ravi Shastri was having an interaction with Star Sports and was asked about who would win the Test Series.

“As far as the series result goes, I think India should back themselves to win this series by a two-match margin. You’re playing at home; you’ve got the bowlers for that. You’ve got the batting line-up as well. I think you’ve got to put pressure from Test match one.” said Ravi Shastri.

Crucial Tour for Australia

The Aussies last time in 2019-21 cycle missed out on the WTC final. Last time when India & Australia faced in BGT, India were 0-1 down and against all odds won the series by 2-1. Skipper Pat Cummins needs to be smart with his decisions as in India bowlers have to bowl long spells.

Australia would be hoping that their senior veteran spinner Nathan Lyon spins a web, as he has had the wood over India. India would be aware of Lyon threat as he is someone who can pick wickets quickly. Aussies don’t have a reliable spinner present where the role of part-time off-spinner Travis Head would be quite decisive in the testing conditions of India.
