Ace batter Virat Kohli was dismissed for four runs in the first ODI of the three-match series between India and Australia at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday (March 17). Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria believes that Virat Kohli needs to rectify his weakness against left-arm pacers when the ball is moving ahead of the World Test Championship (WTC) final.

The left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc dismissed Virat Kohli for four, trapping him in front of the stumps with a full inswinging delivery from over the wicket. Starc could trouble Kohli during the WTC final, which is scheduled to be played at the Oval in London starting on June 7. The battle between the players would be interesting to watch in seam-friendly conditions in England.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Danish Kaneria said that the Indian team management should consider bringing in left-arm pacers like T Natarajan as net bowlers to help Virat Kohli work on his weaknesses.

“Virat Kohli isn’t comfortable against left-arm pacers when the ball nips back. He will have to practice to face Mitchell Starc in the World Test Championship final. The team management should bring in left-arm pacers like T Natarajan as net bowlers,” Danish Kaneria said.

KL Rahul Looked Very Composed – Danish Kaneria

Danish Kaneria said that KL Rahul has suffered a major setback after being dropped from the Test team. Kaneria said that Rahul looked composed, and the Australian bowlers were unable to hit his pads as he was getting behind the line of the ball.

“KL Rahul has dealt a major setback. He was dropped from the Test team and he knows that he will have to deliver now and have to be very sensible. Dropping someone is never the solution. You need to fix the problems. He looked very composed today and the Australian bowlers couldn’t hit his pads as he was getting behind the line of the ball.”

KL Rahul played a patient knock to help India chase down the target after the early wickets. The right-handed batter hit an unbeaten 75 off 91 balls, including seven boundaries and a six. The home team will take on the visitors in the second ODI at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, March 19.
