Former Australian bowler Bree Lee said that Indian fast bowler Umran Malik should play in the third and final ODI of a three-match series at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday, March 22. Umran Malik was included in the squad for the white ball series against Australia but didn’t get a chance to play in the first two matches.

India suffered a 10-wicket loss in the second match in Visakhapatnam as their bowlers went wicketless. The hosts were bowled out for just 117 runs, with none of the batters scoring a half century. Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj picked three wickets each in the first match in Mumbai, but both pacers were ineffective in the previous game.

Raw Pace Is Very Hard To Harness – Brett Lee

Brett Lee praised Umran Malik’s raw pace and said that the Jammu and Kashmir bowler should play Test cricket. Lee believes raw pace is difficult to harness and Malik should be given a chance to play and scare batters around the world.

“I like him. Get him in. Why not? (Inclusion in Test cricket). I said he should have played the World Cup last year in Australia. Didn’t take him at the start but he should have been there,” Brett Lee said on Sports Tak.

“He would have been the first pick in my team because raw pace is very hard to harness. You got to look after them but you’ve also got to throw him in the deep end at some time. Get him out there, allow him to play and let him scare a few batters around the world,” Lee added.

The 23-year-old represented India in 13 matches and picked up 13 wickets. The 23-year-old was a little bit expensive but provided crucial breakthroughs at regular intervals. Team management has assigned him the role of enforcer in the middle overs to trouble the batsmen with his raw pace.
