India suffered their second home defeat in two years as they lost by nine wickets against Australia in the third Test of the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Friday, March 3. Skipper Rohit Sharma said that the players must adapt and work on their skills to bat on challenging pitches for the match to be played for five days.
None of the three Test matches in the four-match series moved into the fourth day, with only nine days of cricket played out of the 15 scheduled days. The first match in Nagpur ended shortly after the second session on Day 3, while the second match in Kotla ended after the lunch break. The Indore Test was the shortest of the three as the match was finished in the first session of Day 3.

Yesterday In South Africa, The Game Got Over Within 3 Days – Rohit Sharma
In the post-match press conference, Rohit Sharma said the games will not last for five days, even outside India. Rohit believes that playing on flat pitches makes cricket boring, and challenging pitches make Test cricket interesting.
“What can I say about that. People have to play well for the game to last for 5 days. Games are not lasting for 5 days even outside India. Yesterday in South Africa, the game got over within 3 days… Australia as well in the first Test match,” Rohit said.

So it’s about skills… people have to adapt with skills. If the pitches are helping the bowlers, batters need to try and test their skills. It is not about always making sure that we are playing on flat pitches and then the results don’t come. In Pakistan, three Test matches were played. People were saying it has become so boring. We are making it interesting for you guys.”
