In December 2022, Rishabh Pant had a horrific accident which has ruled him out for 18 months. His absence leaves a massive hole in the Indian setup. There have been talks going on that Ishan Kishan may replace him who has similar traits to Rishabh Pant and can be a lethal option.

India is really going to really miss Rishabh Pant. The Australians will be happy. He is a counter-attacker, the guy who keeps you awake are guys who score quickly and changes the game in one session. Pant was one such player.” said Ian Chappell.

Conundrum for Management
KS Bharat has been around Indian setup since last 2 years. Ishan Kishan on the other hand can be seen playing white ball cricket for India. The management will have to take a tough call as KS Bharat is quite brilliant behind the wicket. The right handed batter is someone who can stick to the crease and hold one end. The team needs someone who can bat around the tail.
As mentioned by Ian Chappell, Aussie bowlers would be happy as Pant is no there. The batter in 2018-19 & 2020-21 had thrashed the Aussies. India have another option present in the form of KL Rahul but he doesn’t have any significant experience of keeping the wickets in red ball cricket which is a concern.
