Following the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series, India will take on Australia in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday, March 17. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that the upcoming white-ball series will be a tight contest, and neither team can register a clean sweep in the series.
Regular skipper Rohit Sharma will miss the first match of the series due to family commitments. Vice-captain Hardik Pandya will lead the squad in the absence of Rohit. Shreyas Iyer, who didn’t bat in the final Test match against Australia, was ruled out of the series. Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan are likely to be included in the playing XI.

Australia’s Opening Combination Is Going Very Well – Aakash Chopra
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that any team can win the series 2-1 as Australia’s ODI team looks strong. Chopra highlighted that Australia have a formidable opening pair in the form of David Warner and Travis Head, who have performed well in Tests.
“When I see Australia’s ODI squad, I feel it is good. It is a team that will push India. It is not going to be a 3-0 series. It can go 2-1 in either side’s favour. I will not say that it can go only in India’s favour,” Aakash Chopra said.

“David Warner, who has been practicing in the Mumbai lanes, and then Steve Smith as the captain. Travis Head is doing well as an opener. David Warner and Travis Head’s opening combination is going very well and Travis Head is actually batting very well, we saw that recently in the Test matches,” he added.
Steve Smith will lead the side in the three-match series in Pat Cummins‘ absence, while David Warner is expected to be fully fit and available for the last two games. According to the reports, Warner needs to prove his fitness to be included in the starting XI for the series opener.
