Shubman Gill, an Indian opening batsman, scored his second Test century against Australia in the fourth and final Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test on March 11 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The opening batter reached the triple-figure mark in 194 deliveries, hitting nine fours and one sixes on his way.

On the third day of the fourth test against Australia, Shubman Gill entertained the Ahmedabad fans on Saturday morning with a half-century as he brought India’s first innings to 129-1 at lunch. Cheteshwar Pujara (22 not out) and Gill were still in the game at the first interval with Gill unbeaten on 65 runs. India are still 351 runs behind Australia in the first innings.

Gill and Rohit Sharma added 38 runs for the first wicket after starting the day on 36-0. In total, their first stand scored 74 runs in 21 overs. Sharma was caught off the cover by Matthew Kuhnemann (1-20). The wicket occurred against the flow of play when the Indian captain played an erroneous aerial shot. He had 35 runs off 58 balls, with three fours and a six.

Shubman Gill and Pujara are causing problems for the Australian bowlers and have put India in a solid position on Day 3 of the fourth Test in Ahmedabad. In the second session, however, Australia managed to suffocate India for runs. Since the start of his innings, the 23-year-old has looked at ease against the Australian bowlers.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill completed his second Test century with a boundary. He reached the milestone with a sweep to the fine leg region. It is his first Test century in India. In the 61st over of India’s first innings, he reached his first triple-digit score in 194 balls off the bowling of Todd Murphy.
