Former Indian player Gautam Gambhir attacked Venkatesh Prasad for criticizing KL Rahul saying that sometimes former players want to remain active and hence, they criticize players like KL Rahul. Gautam Gambhir is the mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants franchise in IPL 2023, which will be led by KL Rahul.

After KL Rahul’s dismal batting show in IND vs AUS Test series, former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad criticized him and batted for dropping him from the Test side. His opinions also grabbed the limelight of fans and other cricket analysts. Later, Rahul was also dropped from the last two Tests as an opener, making way for Shubman Gill.

Gautam Gambhir Fires Shots At Venkatesh Prasad For Criticizing KL Rahul

During a chat on Sports Tak, LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir was asked whether KL Rahul will be under pressure in IPL 2023 due to his recent criticisms. To this, Gambhir replied that IPL is a very different stage than international cricket and Rahul has always performed in the tournament. Hence, he will not face any pressure. Moreover, he also said that sometimes former players want to remain active and criticize players like Rahul.

“As far as KL Rahul is concerned, I don’t think he will have any pressure in IPL 2023 because international cricket and IPL are different. KL Rahul has had a superb performances in IPL. He has hit over 4-5 centuries in the tournament. He also hit two centuries last season. Sometimes media wants to add some spice and ex-cricketers also want to add some spice and they want to remain active, that is why they criticize players like KL Rahul,” Gautam Gambhir said.
