Former Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Salman Butt, who represented the Men In Green in 33 Tests, 78 ODIs and 24 T20Is, has stated that the struggle of the explosive India batter Suryakumar Yadav in the 50-over cricket is a huge concern for the Rohit Sharma & Co.

Suryakumar Yadav is the No.1 ranked T20I batter in the World with an outstanding 906 rating points. The middle-order batter has established himself as one of the most dangerous batters in the World in the shortest international format. However, he has failed to replicate his T20I performance in ODI cricket.

The 32-year-old has performed awfully in the ongoing three-match ODI series against Australia, having registered back-to-back golden ducks. On both occasions, he was trapped LBW by Mitchell Starc in a similar fashion.

Meanwhile, Salman Butt said on his official YouTube channel that Suryakumar Yadav failing constantly is not at all a positive sign.

“Suryakumar Yadav’s form is a big concern for Team India. When you look at his last 10 ODI matches, he has failed in almost all of them. This isn’t a positive sign for a player who is considered to be a world-class batter.

“He has done really well and thrashed all the bowlers in world cricket last year in T20Is. He has struggled a lot in ODIs,” Salman Butt said.

In batting-friendly conditions, unless you have genuine pace, it won’t trouble the batters – Salman Butt

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Salman Butt further said that only a pacer with genuine pace can trouble the batters in batting-friendly conditions. He added that pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah’s unavailability is a blow to the side as he has the ability to trouble the batters in batting-friendly conditions.

“In batting-friendly conditions, unless you have genuine pace, it won’t trouble the batters. Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action for a very long time now. He is the spearhead of India’s bowling.

“Even on tracks that are good for batting, he is able to succeed because of his deceptive slower balls and accurate yorkers. India are missing that a lot.”

The 29-year-old Bumrah has been out of action for an extended period. He last played international cricket for India in September 2022, before being ruled out with a back injury. He recently underwent back surgery in New Zealand and is now hoping to regain full fitness ahead of the World Cup at home.
