Australian Cricket Team is all set to lock horns against India for the 1st Test Match on 9th February. There are chances that the pitch at Nagpur would be a rank turner which would create a lot of problems for Aussie batters. The visitors in 2013 and 2017 were completely outplayed by Ashwin and Jadeja.

Apart from Nathan Lyon, Aussies would be hoping that the part-time off-spinner Travis Head chips in with a couple of wickets. Travis Head had a pretty decent Sri Lanka tour where he provided breakthroughs for the team. The hosts have got a very deep batting lineup where Nathan Lyon may have to bowl long spells.

Ravi Shastri on Suryakumar Yadav

Ravi Shastri was seen interacting with Star Sports and was asked about Suryakumar Yadav.

“Suryakumar Yadav might get the opportunity in that Test match. And he’s going to play his natural game. I think he’s one player who will be proactive. Especially with Nathan Lyon or the other spinners, he will be looking to score all the time, looking to rotate the strike,” said Ravi Shastri.

“If you want to do well in India, you have got to rotate the strike. You can’t have bowlers bowling maidens at you. You have got to find a way where you want to score, not think of just blocking, because that can create real problems for you. So I think he will be very useful in that position,” he added.

Ravi Shastri on Suryakumar Yadav’s Role

Ravi Shastri was asked what kind of role will Suryakumar Yadav play.

“He might come and play a little cameo on a track that is spinning a lot, where a 30 or 40 could decide the fate of a game. And he can get it quickly and disrupt the opposition. So India will be thinking in that fashion there,” said Ravi Shastri.

It won’t  be wrong to say that Suryakumar Yadav could be the ‘X’ factor for the team in the absence of Rishabh Pant. As mentioned by Ravi Shastri, a cameo of 30-40 runs would be effective as his attacking brand of cricket can take the Aussies by surprise.
