With the opening fixture of the Border Gavaskar Series just a matter of days away, there have been a lot of speculations about the playing eleven India could field for the first game against Australia. Indian vice-captain KL Rahul was present in a press conference where he talked about a lot of topics including the possible playing combinations for the first Test.
According to the reports emerging in the media, it seems like the track at Nagpur could be a rank-turner, and as such India could possibly take to the field with three spinners in their playing eleven. With the returning Ravindra Jadeja back into the mix, the Indian team management will have a lot to think about their possible combinations.

KL Rahul informed the reporters that there was nothing set in stone as of now, as there are still some spots open in the team, which the management is currently trying to figure out.
“Not decided on playing XI, tough decision, couple of vacancies are there, If the situation demands us to play free shots we will go for it otherwise we stick to the regular Test cricket batting template. It is basically trying to work out a plan between the batters in the middle.”
It’s a must-win series: KL Rahul
The Indian vice-captain KL Rahul also talked about the opposition heading into the fixture and added that Australia are a very strong side practice game or not, and this is a must-win series for the team with everyone eyeing a spot in the World Test Championship finals.

“Australian team not playing practice games won’t make much of a difference, they are a quality side and they would have prepared well. It’s a must-win series, When it is India vs Australia it always is. It’s no different than any other Border-Gavaskar series, eyes are on WTC as well.”
It will be interesting to see if India indeed decides to go up with three spinners which seem like the most possible outcome. However, with how the pitch behaves the team could also be tempted to throw in a sixth bowling option as they could skip out on a wicketkeeper option, giving KL Rahul the gloves instead.
