Former Australian batsman who kept wicket Australia continues to have a lot to prove in the next two Test matches, according to Adam Gilchrist, even if they lost the series.

Due to their inability to hold their own against the spin combo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, Australia lost the first two Test matches against the hosts. In the first innings of the second test match, Australia appeared to have discovered the secret to dealing with Indian spinners. The hosts were able to seal the victory in the second inning, proving that their code was ineffective.

No Reason Australia Cannot Salvage Something Out Of It: Adam Gilchrist

Adam Gilchrist discussed the current Border Gavaskar Trophy while speaking to ANI.

“It’s been a tough series and they have been outplayed by India up to this point, so the series is done and they can’t win it but they can salvage a lot out of it and that’s the challenge and look Australia has come up against very skilful Indian team here there is no reason Australia can’t salvage something out of it and of course world test championship is something that is on offer for both teams. So that makes it quite interesting,” Adam Gilchrist said.

The Australians opted to start the match with three spinners after spotting the weakness in their lineup. Adam Gilchrist was asked by ANI what guidance he would want to provide the Australian spinners. Gilchrist responded to this query in an amusing manner.

“I won’t give any advice to the spinners because I can’t bowl spin,” Adam Gilchrist said.

The Australian spinners performed admirably on the opening day of the third test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy even without Adam Gilchrist’s instruction. Leading the way, Matthew Kuhnemann dismantled half of the Indian hitters and finished the day with his maiden five-wicket haul.

Although the Indian spinners made an effort to respond, Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne managed to hold onto their wicket for the whole of the match. Because of this, the Australian side finished Day 1 with a score of 156/4 and a lead of 47 runs.
