Star India batter Virat Kohli isn’t happy with the third umpire’s decision during his dismissal against Australia in the second Test of the four-match series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, February 18. Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli looked in good touch in the match before being dismissed in a controversial manner.
Indian batters struggled against Australian spinners in the second match and lost 7 wickets for 139 runs. However, all-rounders Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin made a crucial partnership to keep India in the game. The left handed batter scored his second consecutive half-century in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023.

The Rohit Sharma-led team started the innings with a score of 21 on Day 2. The hosts didn’t get off to a good start and lost wickets in quick succession in the first session. Virat Kohli came to the crease after captain Rohit Sharma’s wicket fell in the 20th over and he received a warm welcome at his home ground in Delhi.
The 34-year-old player, who did not score much in the last match, looked quite comfortable in the match from the very first ball. He looked strong and scored 44 runs despite wickets from the other end. However, he was controversially dismissed by debutant Matthew Kuhneman in India’s first innings.

Kohli went for a review soon after increasing his finger for the appeal from the bowler. The ball hit the bat and the pad simultaneously, but there is no conclusive evidence that the ball hit the pad before hitting the bat. The third umpire was convinced that the ball hit the pad first and held the on-field umpire’s decision.
Kohli was spotted watching the replays on the TV after he was back in the dressing room, along with the coaches, and he appeared to be unimpressed. The veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon has picked up his 22nd five-wicket haul in the longer format of the game and completed 100 wickets in Border Gavaskar Trophy history.
