India grabbed complete control of the second Test on Friday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, thanks to Indian opener KL Rahul’s absolute stunner. Rahul dashed to his right, grabbing the ball with one hand as the batter reverse-swept a rising delivery outside the off-stump.

Rohit Sharma’s Team India will want to repeat their successes in the second game of the four-match series against Australia after a dominant showing in the first Test. At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the action will get underway on Friday, February 17, and the Pat Cummins-led team will undoubtedly try to get back on track. To go to the ICC World Test Championships final later this year, India must maintain their winning streak.

Australia got off to a good start thanks to Usman Khawaja and David Warner after Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat. Warner, though, failed once again as he lost to Mohammed Shami twice in the series.

The dangerous Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith were taken out by Ravichandran Ashwin in a span of three deliveries, tipping the balance in favor of India in the opening session. Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne were cruising along as an attacking duo for Australia up until that point. Khawaja and David Warner had previously set up a 50-run opening stand. Warner never seemed to be at ease and ultimately lost to Mohammed Shami. Despite wickets falling at the other end, Khawaja managed to reach a half-century.

KL Rahul made a superb catch to dismiss Usman Khawaja (81) and end the 59-run fifth-wicket stand. Ravindra Jadeja’s first and 250th Test wicket is taken. The all-rounder surpasses 250 Test wickets and 2500 Test runs to become the fastest Indian and second fastest in world cricket. R Ashwin dismisses Alex Carey in the next over, leaving Australia at 168 for 6.

Australia had earlier scored 94 runs while losing three wickets. Near the close of the session, Ashwin secured two crucial dismissals in the form of Marnus Labuschange and Steve Smith. David Warner and Tarvis Head had been removed from the game by Mohammed Shami.

On the notoriously spinner-friendly Kotla track, Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bat first in the second Test. Matt Renshaw has been replaced by Travis Head for the Australians. Shreyas Iyer is replacing Suryakumar Yadav at the same time.

Right from the start, India had a comfortable advantage. With Rohit Sharma’s team leading the series and the second Test 1-0, excitement is evident.
