We Know The Importance Of This Series: Rohit Sharma

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma spoke about India’s playing XI at the toss saying that the idea behind picking three spinners was that the pitch looked dry and will get even drier as the Tets match progresses. He further spoke about the importance of the series.

“We would have batted too. Looks pretty dry. There will be help for spinners. We got to wait and see how much it does. Yesterday when we started training we did see some seam movement for the pacers up front. We have had a good prep for the last 5-6 days. We trained on the aspects in store. This is a big one. We know the importance of the series but we also understand it’s about winning one session at a time. It’s a long series. Three spinners, two-seamers, Bharat and Suryakumar Yadav are debuting” Rohit said at the toss.

The Men in Blue needs to win the series to book a place in the WTC final. Australia is leading the points table with 124 points followed by India with 99. The Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi will host the second Test from February 17 to 21.

The third Test will be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala from March 1 to 5 and the fourth Test will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad from March 9 to 13. The fourth Test might be a D/N affair as per reports.
