The third and final ODI game between India and Australia came to a conclusion as the visitors defeated India by 21 runs to clinch the series 2-1. Both the teams fought well till the end but it was Australia who emerged with the upper hand at the end of the contest. After losing the first game against India, Australia managed to bounce back strong defeating India in the two coming games.

While India won the first game under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, the 2nd and 3rd games saw regular skipper Rohit Sharma make a return to the squad in a losing endeavour.

While India did have a decent day with the ball restricting Australia to just 269 runs on the board, the Australian once again proved their grit as they put up small but meaningful partnerships throughout the middle and death overs negating the Indian attack that had done well up top. Chasing 270 runs on the board, India had a good start with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill providing the team with the platform.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul build on the stand from the opening wicket. However, after the dismissal of the two set batters India kept losing wickets at regular intervals which gave Australia the perfect opportunity to make a comeback in the game and bag the win to seal the series.

Trying to get India back in the game, veteran bowler Mohammed Shami slammed two consecutive boundaries keeping India in the game. However, Marcus Stoinis bounced back strong from the two boundaries as he returned with a brilliant delivery cleaning up Mohammed Shami to seal the win for Australia.

With the ODI series coming to a conclusion, players will now turn their eyes towards the approaching Indian Premier League that kickstarts on the 31st of March with the defending champions Gujarat Titans locking horns against the four-time winners Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
