Indian Cricket Team had a terrible Day 1 where they were bundled out for 109 runs in 33.2 overs. Not a single Indian batter scored 25 runs where the Aussie spinners extracted turn from the track. Ravindra Jadeja had bowled a no-ball when Marnus Labuschagne was on 0 runs. Ravindra Jadeja needs to work on his bowling as over the last 2 Test matches, he has bowled a lot of no-balls.

Usman Khawaja & Marnus Labuschagne took their time and made sure that they aren’t allowing any bowler to settle in. Usman Khawaja looked in complete control as he waited for loose deliveries. In the absence of Warner, Khawaja has to bat responsibly as the rest of the batting lineup is a bit inexperienced.

Crucial Phase for India

The Skipper Rohit Sharma would be eyeing a couple of more wickets at the end of Day 1 play. Rohit Sharma’s captaincy has been quite defensive where he has allowed the batters to rotate the strike. Given the way, the pitch is behaving, batting 2nd on the track won’t be easier for the hosts.

The Aussies would be banking on their skipper Steven Smith to make a statement and bat deep. With quite a little time remaining in Day 1’s play, the Aussies would be aiming to get a lead of 50 runs. The Aussies would be aware of the fact that they have to bat last on the track where a lead of around 200 runs would be decisive in these conditions.
