Skipper Rohit Sharma and Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara were involved in the horrible run out in the second Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023 between India and Australia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, February 19.

Rohit Sharma decided to sacrifice his wicket for Pujara, who was playing his 100th Test match, after a miscommunication between the two batters. The Indian skipper looked quite confident in the innings from the first ball and played an attacking innings, scoring 31 runs in 20 balls on a turning track.

The incident took place in the 7th over of India’s second innings, when Matthew Kuhneman was bowling. Rohit Sharma took the first run after pushing the ball on-side in front of the square, then turned back for the second run but was stopped midway. The two batters were involved d in a formidable mix, but Rohit sacrificed his wickets by letting his partner pass and left the field in disappointment.

Team Indian bowlers bundled out the opposition for just 113 runs, with left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja picking up seven wickets, and the veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took three wickets from the other end. India came to bat before lunch with a small target of 115 runs.

KL Rahul Continues His Lean Patch

India vice-captain and opener KL Rahul continued his poor form in the longer format of the game and registered another low score in the series. He was dismissed for 1 run in Nathan Lyon’s bowling. Following his failures in the first two matches, KL Rahul is unlikely to retain his place in the playing XI for the third Test match.

India will take on Australia in the third match of the series at the Holkar Stadium in Indore starting on Wednesday, March 1. The Rohit Sharma-led team hopes to win the third match to clinch the series as well as seal their berth in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final, which is scheduled to be played on June 8 at the Oval in London.
