The Third One-Day International (ODI) between India and Australia in Chennai was halted after a stray dog barged into the ground, escaping the eyes of the security officials on Sunday.

Steve Smith, the captain of Australia, earlier chose to bat against India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai after winning the toss. At the toss, India’s captain Rohit Sharma announced that the home team would play with the same lineup, and Smith disclosed that David Warner and Ashton Agar would replace Cameron Green and Nathan Ellis in the playing XI.

Australia, who won the toss and decided to bat first, has been put on the back foot by three consecutive smashes from Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav. Australia has already lost seven wickets, so Rohit Sharma and company will want to keep them to fewer than 250 runs. Australia had gotten off to a fast start thanks to its openers, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head.

Before Pandya quickly removed Head, Steve Smith, and Marsh to help India wrest control from Australia, the combination put up 68 runs for the first wicket. After adding 40 runs for the fourth wicket, David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne were both quickly removed by Kuldeep. Marcus Stoinis was then removed by Axar Patel, who then allowed Kuldeep to finish off Alex Carey.

Watch- The Play Was Halted After A Stray Dog Entered The Ground:

Indian cricketers have a large fan base in the country. Fans have invaded Indian pitches during matches in recent months to shake hands and take photographs with their favourite players, causing a pause in play. On Wednesday, though, it was a surprise visitor who invaded the ground, causing play to be paused. This unexpected visitor was a Brown dog. The incident occurred at the start of Australia’s 42nd over, with Ashton Agar and Sean Abbott out in the middle leading the rebuilding process.

The ground crew arrived soon and tried to get the animal from the field. One of the Indian players also attempted to evict the dog. The dog, on the other hand, made everyone work hard by running along the fence for a few more moments before leaving the field.
