Ex-Indian captain and current commentator Sunil Gavaskar commented on Ravindra Jadeja‘s furious reaction over a catch dropped by Mohammed Siraj.
In the ongoing series-deciding 3rd ODI between Australia in India, Ravindra Jadeja was bowling the 20th over of the first inning. On the last ball of the over, Warner sweeps, but the ball flies off the top edge and goes high in the air. Siraj ran and dove toward the ball, but only managed to get his fingertips to it, thus dropping the catch.

Ravindra Jadeja, who is renowned for being one of the best fielders in the World, was understandably furious over the missed chance, especially of someone of David Warner’s caliber. This reaction invited comment from Sunil Gavaskar, who was commentating live on-air. The legendary batter criticized Siraj, claiming that the pacer started running toward the ball a little too late. He then sympathized with Ravindra Jadeja’s anger and praised the fielding standards he has set.
Sunil Gavaskar Minces No Word For Ravindra Jadeja
“With Siraj what we have seen over the years, in the last 2-3 years – He still hasn’t developed that instinct. So, it was a late start. This was a tough one, make no mistake. It wasn’t an easy catch at all. But he started late and therefore he had to dive. No wonder! (Talking about Jadeja’s scream of anguish) But then, it can’t be your standards, Ravindra. Your standards are sky high,” said Gavaskar.

Australia posts a target of 270 for India to win the ODI series.
In the ongoing 3rd ODI of India vs. Australia series (currently draw at 1-1), the Aussies have put up 269 runs batting first.
After a strong opening partnership of 68 runs, the Kangaroos lost their top order in quick succession. The middle order took it upon themselves to stable the rocking boat, as although none of the batters crossed the 30-run mark, everyone from David Warner at no.4 to Sean Abbott at no.8 scored above 20. Opener Mitchell Marsh was the highest run scorer with 47.
Hardik Pandya showed his bowling prowess, taking all three wickets from the top order. Whereas Kuldeep Yadav used the pitch’s turn to take three scalps as well.
While the pitch at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai isn’t the most spin-friendly, the target of 270 is well within India’s reach. Although India is yet to cross the 200-run mark in this series.
