Sri Lanka take on Australia in the third and final T20I of the three-match series in Pallekele on Saturday, June 11. They have already won the series having won the first two T20Is and are looking to complete a whitewash.
Both teams will play a five-match ODI series followed by a two-match Test series after the end of the ongoing T20I series. The ODIs will be a part of the ODI Super League while the Test series will be a part of the ongoing World Test Championship 2021-23.
In the meantime, we focus on the T20I series. The hosts Sri Lanka have been totally outplayed by a dominant Aussie side in the first two games. They are yet to score 150 as a batting unit in the series. The openers have struggled to give their team good starts in the first two games. Their bowlers have bowled well but their batters have let them down by not putting too many runs on the board.
Australia, on the other hand, have been plagued by injuries. Mitchell Starc is ruled out of the third T20I and the ODI series after injuring the index finger of his bowling arm. The board said that he will be fit in time for the start of the Test series from June 29. Sean Abbott has also been ruled out after injuring his left=arm while batting.
