Bangladesh Cricket Team stunned South Africa on Friday after winning the first ODI of the three-match series by 38 runs. A collective effort with the bat helped them post 314 runs in the first innings.
The bowlers also performed admirably and bundled out South Africa for 276 runs in the second innings. The second ODI is slated to be played on Sunday at The Wanderers Stadium. Here’s a look at our predicted playing XI of the Bangladesh Cricket Team for the second ODI, scheduled to be held on Sunday.
SA vs BAN: Bangladesh’s Predicted Playing XI Against South Africa, South Africa vs Bangladesh, 2nd ODI
Openers: Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das
The duo set the tone with the bat in the last game. They compiled a 95-run partnership for the opening wicket to give the team a great start. Tamim Iqbal missed out on a half-century by 9 runs as he got out after scoring 41 runs in 67 balls. Liton Das, on the other hand, continued his good run with the bat as he compiled a half-century in 67 balls. The duo should open the batting, once again, on Sunday.
Middle-Order: Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Yasir Ali and Mahmudullah
Shakib Al Hasan’s importance in the team is unparalleled, and, once again, he showed that on Sunday. The Bangladesh skipper scored 77 runs in 64 balls in the last game, a knock which was studded with 7 fours and 3 sixes.
Playing only his fourth ODI, Yasir Ali notched his maiden half-century in difficult conditions in South Africa. That knock should have given him a lot of confidence. Mahmudullah also played a good-looking cameo of 25 runs in 17 balls. All four are likely to be part of the playing XI for the second ODI.
All-rounders: Afif Hossain and Mehidy Hasan
Both Afif Hossain (17 off 13) and Mehidy Hasan (19 off 13) played vital cameos with the bat in the last match. It helped the team reach the 300-plus total in the first innings. Later, Mehidy Hasan spun a web around the opposition batters as he claimed four wickets for 61 runs in 9 overs. There is no denying that both will be key to the team’s fortune in the next game.
Bowlers: Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Mustafizur Rahman
Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam bowled exceedingly well in the last game. Taskin Ahmed, in particular, was outstanding as he exhibited a wonderful display of skillful bowling. He bowled at great lengths and picked 3 wickets for just 36 runs in 10 overs.
Shoriful Islam also returned with impressive figures of 2 for 47 runs in 8 overs. Mustafizur Rahman conceded 50 runs without a wicket in 10 overs. He would look to showcase better performance with the ball.
