ICC ODI Rankings: India, Pakistan Receive Major Boost After ODI Series Cleansweep

Arch-rivals India and Pakistan have received a major boost in their ICC ODI rankings following respective clean sweeps. India led by KL Rahul won an ODI series against Zimbabwe 3-0. Pakistan, led by Babar Azam won against Netherlands by a 3-0 margin. Both the series was a part of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup Super.

India are now on 111 rating points with a total aggregate point of 3,447. Pakistan, are placed fourth in the rankings with 107 rating points and 2,354 aggregate points. New Zealand are leading the table with 124 rating points and 2355 points overall.

The Kiwis are ahead by five points from England (119) who are placed second on the table. They are ahead of India by 13 points and Pakistan by 17 points. The Kiwis have a chance to build on the lead as they take on Australia next month in Australia.

A series loss against Australia will allow England to take the number one position while the Aussies can replace Pakistan at number four in the rankings. Australia are currently fifth on the rankings with 101 points.

India will have a chance to boost their rankings when they take on South Africa at home later this year. Pakistan, on the other hand, does not have anymore ODIs till the T20 World Cup against Australia later this year.

India Cleansweeps Zimbabwe 3-0

Ahead of their Asia Cup campaign, Team India led by KL Rahul won the ODI series by a 3-0 margin against Zimbabwe. They won the first ODI by 10 wickets, the second by five wickets and the final ODI by 13 runs as they successfully defended 289. Shubman Gill was the Player of the Series scoring 245 runs in three matches including his first ODI ton in the final game. He scored 130 off 97 balls to score the most runs by an Indian batsman on Zimbabwean soil.

“Definitely special (on hitting his maiden international ton). (Playing in this team) It feels great, great bunch of players. Feels good when you are with the same bunch. My father has been my primary coach. I got schooling after I got out in the second ODI, so I dedicate this to him” said Gill after scoring his maiden ODI ton.
