Steve Smith was awarded the Man of the Match for his brilliant batting performance in both the innings against India.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli has slipped down to the third place in the ICC Test Rankings after his absence from the Test series after the first Test in Adelaide. Kohli had flown back to India after the Adelaide Test as he had been granted a paternal leave by the BCCI and the Indian skipper became a father on January 11 as his wife Anushka Sharma gave birth to their daughter.

In the first innings of the Sydney Test, he had scored a scintillating century and ended his innings on 131 runs. In the second innings, he was once again up to the task as he scored 81 runs in the second innings.
