The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the latest update for the Test players’ rankings on January 12, 2022, Wednesday. The rankings take into account the fourth Ashes 2021-22 Test match which was played in Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and the second Test match between South Africa and India and the Bangladesh-New Zealand Test series.

Australians now hold the top and third spots on the ICC Test batting rankings, with only Joe Root splitting the no.1 ranked Marnus Labuschagne (who retains the top spot) and Steve Smith, who has leapfrogged Kane Williamson to enter the top three. Labuschagne’s 28 and 29 were enough to distance himself from Joe Root, who made 0 and 24 and stay at the top of the rankings.
