The BAN vs IRE first T20I will be played in Chattogram on March 27. The match starts at 1.20 pm IST which is 2 pm local time. After winning the ODI series 2-1, Bangladesh are now hosting Ireland for a three-match T20I series.

Paul Stirling will lead Ireland with Andrew Balbirnie rested as Shakib Al Hasan will take over the reins in T20Is from Tamim Iqbal. Under Tamim’s captaincy, Bangladesh won the ODI series 2-0 winning the first ODI by 183 runs and the third ODI by 10 wickets. The second ODI was washed out due to rain.

Shakib Al Hasan achieved a major feat as he scored 93 off 89 balls and bagged a wicket. He is now only the third international cricket ever to have the double of 7000 ODI runs and 300 ODI wickets. He is only the third cricketer ever after Sanath Jayasuriya and Shahid Afridi to join this feat. He got to this feat in the first ODI.

In Bangladesh, Ireland will participate in three one-day internationals (ODIs), three Twenty20 internationals (T20Is), and one test match. The three BAN vs IRE ODIs were played on March 18, 20, and 23 in Sylhet. The T20Is are scheduled to take place on March 26, 28, and 30 in Chattogram. The one-off Test will be played in Dhaka from April 4-8. Bangladesh are ninth in the ICC T20I rankings while Ireland is 12th.

The Irish team are on the road at the moment starting with this ODI series which will culminate with a one-off Test match against England at Lord’s from June 1-4. Ireland will need to play the World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe between 18 June to 9 July. Ireland are placed 11th in the ICC ODI Super League points table at the moment.
