Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (CSK) both had indifferent seasons in IPL 2022. Both performed well below par and now are on the lookout to sort out their team composition ahead of IPL 2023.

KKR ended the season seventh on the points table in their first year under Shreyas Iyer’s leadership. CSK finished nine with 8 points from 14 games. Mumbai with 10 losses bagged the bottom spot. Venkatesh Iyer

After the southpaw’s below-par performance in IPL 2022, it is highly unlikely that KKR would retain Venkatesh Iyer. He was the find for KKR in IPL 2021 and played a key role in taking them to the final. However, he looked a show of his usual self and did not perform to the best of his ability. If Iyer is released, this gives CSK an opportunity to bag a top-order batter who can also bowl a few overs.

Nabi is another player KKR is likely to release. He did not play even a single game in the IPL 2022 season. In a way, KKR needs to release him to look for better options in the auction. This gives Chennai Super Kings another opportunity to bag another proven T20 performer for the long run.

Chamika Karunarate was another player who KKR dod not use in IPL 2022. He too is likely to be released by the management. The Sri Lankan all-rounder is fresh off 75 in the fifth ODI against Australia. He has proved his worth as a bowler taking Sri Lanka to a win in the series on the back of his bowling. The Lankan all-rounder can be another good buy for CSK.
