Rajasthan Royals defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second qualifier to eliminate them from IPL 2022. RCB had previously beaten the Royals in the league stage. The Sanju Samson-led side then gave a body blow to RCB eliminating them from the playoffs. As it eventually turned out, Rajasthan could not win their second IPL title as they lost to Gujarat Titans in the final.

The IPL 2023 will see all the teams release their reserve players which will allow them to buy new players in the mega auction. Both Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore have a fairly strong squad and it will be interesting to see whom they release. Meanwhile, continuing with our series of RCB articles, we take a look at three Rajasthan players Bangalore might target in the mini-auction.

RCB might just be tempted to buy back Devdutt Padikkal to sort out their opening woes in some sense. He scored 376 runs in IPL 2022 and batted in the middle-order for the Royals. For RCb, he can get back to opening the batting allowing Virat Kohli to bat at number three and control the batting innings.

Krishna has developed into a good bowler for India with time. He is tall and hits the hard lengths while bowling. He certainly can be an asset for RCB in the bowling attack alongside Hardhal Patel, Josh Hazlewood and Mohammed Siraj.

Chahal was RCB’s best bowler while he was with the side. He picked 139 wickets for Bangalore playing for them between 2014 to 2021. After joining Rajasthan Royals, Chahal picked up 27 wickets in the very first season-ending the season with the Purple Cap. If there is an opportunity, RCB should target to buy back Chahal in the mini-auction. However, with Chahal being so successful for the Royals, he should ideally not be on their list of released players.
