Wrist spinner Axar Patel’s rise in Tests along with Kuldeep Yadav’s form in the comeback Test against Bangladesh recently where he was awarded Man of the Match in the 1st Test for picking 8 scalps means 36-year-old off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin may not be in the scheme of things in future. Luckily for him, Ravindra Jadeja is injured, otherwise, he may not have been playing against Bangladesh.

Ravichandran Ashwin, the off-spinner though showed he is not over yet in the 2nd Test against Bangladesh by scoring 42* in the 2nd innings under tense circumstances after a 58 in the 1st Test besides picking 4/71 in the 2nd Test. He was awarded Man of the Match for his outstanding performance in the 2nd Test against Bangladesh.

However, Ravichandran Ashwin may retire from Tests soon as he is over 35 years while left-arm spinner 28-year-old Axar Patel, who has picked 47 scalps in 8 Tests averaging 14.29, and chinaman spinner 28 year old Kuldeep Yadav, who picked 34 scalps in 8 Tests averaging 21.56 will rule world cricket in forthcoming years.
