Sunrisers Hyderabad had a forgetful IPL season finishing eighth on the points table with six wins and eighth on the points table with six wins and eight losses. Kolkata Knight Riders finished seventh with six wins and eighth losses as well.

KKR made a big mistake by releasing Rahul Tripathi ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. Tripathi consistently scored for KKR in the two seasons he played for the side. He scored 627 runs in the two seasons he played before joining SRH for who he scored 413 in the very first season.

Kolkata was criticised heavily for releasing the batter and the franchise would dearly want him back. He can bat anywhere in the top four and even in the middle order.
