According to reports, one of the squad’s 15 members tested positive for the virus, although an official confirmation is still pending. The BCCI had named a 15-member Indian women’s cricket team roster for the Birmingham Games. The games will be played in the T20 International format.

India will kick off their campaign against Australia in the first game. Women’s cricket will make its Commonwealth Games debut on July 29 when India takes against Australia. Women’s cricket is making its first appearance at the famous multi-sport event. The Indian side just completed an ODI series sweep over Sri Lanka and won a three-match T20I series 2-1 against them. Kaur herself was in great touch throughout the Sri Lanka tour while Mandhana struggled to get going. India would hope that their vice-captain gets amongst the runs in the big tournament.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women’s cricket squad will be a confident side for their CWG debut, coming off a great performance.

India squad:

Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Shafali Verma, S. Meghana, Taniyaa Sapna Bhatia (Wk), Yastika Bhatia (Wk), Deepti Sharma, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Pooja Vastrakar, Meghna Singh, Renuka Thakur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav, Harleen Deol, Sneh Rana.
