Former South African talisman batsman, AB de Villiers is not on the list of contracted players for his domestic side, Titans.
De Villiers’ name is missing on the list of 18 contracted players announced by the franchise.
Meanwhile, AB de Villiers had surprisingly announced his retirement from the International arena last week. However, de Villiers had confirmed he would continue to provide his services to the Titans in the domestic circuit.
It is Surprising once again.
Consequently, AB de Villiers will be seen plying on his trade in the different T20 leagues across the globe. In fact, de Villiers had recently played for the RCB in the IPL in where he scored 480 runs in the 11 innings.
The Titans said, “discussions are still ongoing regarding the finalisation of a playing arrangement for the upcoming season” with de Villiers.
De Villiers played 114 Test matches, 228 One-Dayers and 78 Twenty20 Internationals for the South African team. He scored 8,765 runs in the red-ball form, 9,577 runs in the 50-over format and 1,672 runs in the shortest format.
Meanwhile, Titans have accumulated mix bag of experience as well as young players. Thenuis de Bruyn has come back into the squad while fast bowler from Cape Cobras, Tshepo Mureki has also found his place. Corbin Bosch and Wandile Makwetu are also given new contracts.
“It is an exciting squad,” said Mark Boucher, the head coach. “The squad is a good balance of youth and experience and definitely one that has the potential to defend our two trophies and possibly put us in a position to win all three competitions.”
The Titans were in prolific form in the previous season. The franchise went on to win three T20 titles before winning the four-day tournament.
Players like Junior Dala, Aiden Markram, Lungi Ngidi and Heinrich Klaasen have performed well for the franchise. On the back of these good performances, these players were able to receive the national call-up.
