Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Abhishek Sharma has opened up on the dressing room environment during the whole saga involving Australian opener, David Warner.

Warner was removed from captaincy following a fallout with the management. He was also dropped from the playing XI and wasn’t even part of the squad. In the final stages of IPL 2021, Warner was often seen in the stands supporting the franchise he loves.

Speaking about the tough times in an exclusive interview with CricTracker, Abhishek said: “I think the first half was a little bit (not that messy). Obviously, when we were not winning, there will be some changes. So, it was like we were gelling up together.

“However, the second half was pretty good as we were trying new things as a team and the management was giving chance to the youngsters. So, they were planning for the future and it was a good approach.

Abhishek also claimed that Kane Williamson is the best captain of all time in his eyes. Having played under him in the IPL 2021 season, Abhishek said he has been trying to implement the things he has learned from the Kiwi captain.

The experience was really good because he always motivates you as a bowler. I have also batted with him in few games and he’s always ready to help you. So, whenever such words are coming from a legend, it boosts you up. Also, he’s very calm and composed,” Abhishek stated.

When I was leading the (Under-19) team under him (Dravid), he always use to tell me that, ‘you should always play your natural game. You don’t have any flaws in your batting style or bowling style. You just have to back yourself and be confident to become the best.’ So, I still remember those words and it still motivates him whenever I am not doing well.

Abhishek has been part of the SRH setup for the last three years. At the domestic level, he continues captaining the Punjab cricket team.
